Teens hospitalised after car accident

Three minors were hospitalised, one in serious condition, following a car accident in Paphos, police said on Thursday.

According to Paphos deputy chief Michalis Ioannou, the accident occurred at 6.30pm on Wednesday on Christou Keli avenue in Kissonerga.

Under conditions that are being investigated, a car driven by a 21-year-old man entered the adjacent lane facing oncoming traffic and crashed into a car driven by a 47-year-old man with a 16-year-old boy as a passenger.

The spokesman said the younger driver also crashed into other cars.

Two teenagers, both aged 17, who were passengers of the 21-year-old, as well as the other minor were transferred via ambulance to Paphos general hospital.

The 16-year-old suffered a fractured pelvis and admitted him to the ICU. His condition was described as serious but stable.

The other two teenagers were kept in the hospital as a precaution, the spokesman said.

Meanwhile, the two drivers underwent an alcohol test which came back negative.

The Paphos officer said they booked drivers for 51 violations in the last 24 hours. Of them, 15 concerned speeding, one for parking in a disabled parking spot and 34 concerned smaller violations.
