Hefty fines of €8,000, €3,000 and €4,000 respectively were imposed on two supermarkets and a bakery during police checks for Covid violations between Sunday and Monday as 3,162 checks were carried out islandwide.
In total 14 people, and 15 business owners, were fined, the vast majority for lack of a SafePass among employees or people not wearing a mask.
In Nicosia there were 1,172 inspections with six fines on businesses and six on individuals.
Limassol saw 330 checks and three individuals plus two businesses were booked.
In Larnaca there were 783 inspections and two fines issued. Paphos had 114 checks and one business fined while in the Famagusta area there were 471 checks and three violations.
Morphou area also had three violations from 185 inspections.
